Voting Socialist is more important than ever

Australia is a wealthy country but so many people can’t even afford to rent or buy a home.

Prices increase and poverty worsens yet corporations go unchecked. They make windfall profits, create inflation and economic havoc and are accountable to no one.

While services are being cut to pay for massive military spending and tax cuts for the rich, the basics like food, utilities, education and health are slipping from the grasp of many.

And we are facing runaway climate change yet still dependent on fossil fuels.

We need politicians who will fight for human rights and justice, against the climate crisis and war.

The Labor and Liberal Parties both openly supported the genocide in Gaza.

How can we trust politicians who refuse to condemn a genocide? If they won’t fight genocide, they won’t fight for us.

We need a fundamental shift in this political system to provide real solutions for the majority of people.

Capitalism offers no answers.

Socialist Alliance will be running candidates in the Federal Election. We want to put forward a radical alternative to the major parties, campaigning for the ecosocialist changes this society so desperately needs.

So we are fighting for:

• An end to homelessness and the housing affordability crisis; large-scale expansion of quality public housing;
• Immediate sanctions on Israel; an end to all arms exports to Israel;
• Australia’s withdrawal from AUKUS, ANZUS and the Quad; the cancellation of the $368 billion nuclear-powered submarines;
• Zero carbon emissions and 100% renewable energy by 2030;
• Permanent protection for all refugees and their partners/children; the abolition of Temporary Protection Visas;
• Treaties that respect First Nations sovereignty and land rights;
• Legal recognition of a worker’s right to strike, organise and take solidarity actions; the abolition of all anti-union laws; an end to the administration of the CFMEU;
• A comprehensive public transport service, that is frequent, free and in public hands;
• Introduction of a wealth tax for the super-rich;
• The nationalisation of mines, banks, energy companies and other critical infrastructure;
• Immediate public investment to create jobs, better public housing, schools, hospitals and health facilities;
• Politicians to be paid an average worker’s wage.

All Socialist Alliance candidates pledge:

• If elected we’ll live on an average worker's weekly wage and donate the rest of our salary to the movement for change;
• If not elected, we will continue to fight for the campaigns that build a better world.
