Jonathan Strauss

I am a long-time education worker, a workplace and community organiser and dad. I have just moved to Brisbane after living in Cairns for 18 years.

I was president of the National Tertiary Education Union at James Cook University in northern Queensland for a decade before moving. I also worked from 2019 to 2024 with Rural Australians for Refugees as national secretary, president and vice-president.

Working together to build a fairer society is what I do. If elected, I will keep working with unions and community movements for Palestine solidarity, First Nations soverieignty, workers’ rights, climate and building public housing and public transport.
