The Socialist Alliance of Australia condemns the Turkish state’s escalation of illegal cross border air strikes against Kurdish and Yezidi communities in northern Iraq and north-east Syria (Rojava).

Socialist Alliance unequivocally condemns the US military strike on January 3 that assassinated Iranian commander Qasem Soleimani and deputy commander of the Iraqi government-affiliated forces Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis

The people of India have taken to the streets to protest against an act which indirectly discriminates Muslims in India. A wave of protests are underway in India due to the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), also known as CAB previously.

Socialist Alliance has joined with other Asian region left and progressive organisations to oppose the United States-backed coup in Bolivia.

Progressive parties in the Asia-Pacific region join other voices around the world demanding that Turkey stop its invasion of Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, popularly known as "Rojava".

It is up to ordinary people around the world to stand up and  force their governments  to put real pressure on Turkey to halt its invasion and withdraw from Syria.

The recent uprising in West Papua was sparked by racist attacks on Papuan students in the Indonesian city of Surabaya. However, the West Papuan people have been struggling for more than 60 years against Indonesian occupation, human rights violations  and for the right of self determination.

The decades-long struggle of the West Papuan people for self-determination has intensified in recent months — and Australia’s role in aiding and abetting the Indonesian occupation is once again being brought under international scrutiny.

While there is much finger-pointing at China, we should not forget about about our own government and our major ally.

On August 17, Indonesian Independence Day, armed Indonesian police, soldiers and radical Islamic militia stormed a student dormitory in the Indonesian city of Surabaya (on the island of Java), which housed West Papuan students, arresting 43.

The attack reportedly took place because the students had allegedly refused to raise the Indonesian flag.
