Susan lives in Parramatta and has been an active unionist and feminist for more than 20 years. She has held a number of elected roles in the National Tertiary Education Union (NTEU) including as branch president at the University of New South Wales between 2006 and 2010, where she led a number of campaigns, including strike actions to defend workplace rights and conditions.
Susan is a committed campaigner for women's rights and has been involved in many struggles over the years — for women's reproductive rights, against violence and for workplace equality, including paid domestic violence leave.
Susan is a campaigner for refugee rights, against racism and in solidarity with First Nations peoples.
