The following statement was adopted by the Socialist Alliance national executive on September 4, 2014 in response to the Australian government's decision to join the US and other imperialist states in a new military intervention in Iraq.

“Civilians were the overwhelming majority of the more than 1400 people Israel killed in it’s 2009 assault on Gaza. Today, Israel is beginning another assault. The people of Iran are demanding food, democracy, an end to corrupt, theocratic rule and their basic human rights. And they need our urgent solidarity.

This should not come as a surprise. No one should be under any doubt that the reported "incidents" of cruelty and murder involving Australian SAS personnel are just the tip of the iceberg.
