In Sydney, thousands of workers took to the streets on November 16 to demand an end to the Turnbull government's attacks on workers rights and conditions.

Contingents of construction workers walked off the job and the maritime unionists closed down the entire Port of Botany for four hours.

They were joined by nurses, teachers, finance sector workers, university employees, electrical trades, services and public sector employees.

ACTU Secretary Sally McManus addressed the rally, calling for the union movment to get behind the efforts to defeat the LNP in the upcoming by-election in the seat of Bennalong, and 'bring down the Turnbull government'.
