Jordan Armaou-Massoud for Harmony Park Ward
My name is Jordan Armaou-Massoud. I am the Socialist Alliance candidate for Harmony Park Ward (central and western Coburg) for the upcoming Merri-bek council elections.
I am a Lebanese-Palestinian university student who is currently studying Anthropology. Previously, I worked in interdisciplinary health education.
The housing crisis is the worst it has been since the 1930s. I have been involved in campaigns to stop the sell-off and demolition of public housing.
I am also involved in various campaigns to “end the Australian Government’s complicity in the genocide in Gaza”.
I am passionate about social and ecological justice and believe councils should play a role in supporting human rights and community-led campaigns.
If elected I will actively campaign for
- Making our roads safer for pedestrians and cyclists, especially Murray Rd, the Bell St bridge and Nicholson St, in Coburg
- Accessible tram stops on Sydney Rd and other roads in Merri-bek
- Improved public transport: more trains, trams and buses
- Extending the hours of the outdoor pools
- Stopping the privatisation and outsourcing of council services - maintaining council’s Home Care service
- Improving amenities for people experiencing homelessness or housing stress
- More public housing not dodgy developer-proposals for so-called “affordable” housing
- More support for emergency food relief.
- An end to the genocide in Gaza.
