Jacob Andrewartha for Pentridge Ward
My name is Jacob Andrewartha, and I am the Socialist Alliance endorsed candidate for the Pentridge Ward (east Coburg) in the upcoming Merri-bek council election.
I work as a childcare worker with history of involvement in the Pro-Palestine movement and Climate Justice.
I have been part of organising protests for Palestine in the local area with Merri-Bek & Northern Suburbs for Palestine.
I believe councils in addition to running essential services that support the needs of the community need to take an active stand on social justice issues including refugee rights and opposing the genocide in Gaza, whilst standing up to property developers and inadequate state government policies.
If elected I will actively campaign for:
- No privatisation or outsourcing of council services - Maintain council’s Home Care service
- Extending the hours of the outdoor pools
- Improved public transport: more trains, trams and buses
- Accessible tram stops on Sydney Rd + other Merri-bek roads
- Making our roads safer for pedestrians and cyclists
- Improve amenities for people experiencing homelessness or housing stress
- More public housing not dodgy developer-proposals for so-called “affordable” housing
- More support for emergency food relief
- An end to the genocide in Gaza.
