Angela Carr for Hamlyn Heights Ward
Hi,
My name is Angela Carr I am the Socialist Alliance endorsed candidate running in the ward of Hamlyn Heights for the City of Greater Geelong Council elections in October this year. I live in Herne Hill with my 3 school aged children. I‘m a community services worker, union delegate and passionate community activist, fighting back against social injustices.
I and other Socialist Alliance members have been active in a range of campaigns across Geelong in relation to defending community services, environmental issues, social housing, revitilising community spaces and opposing racism.
Issues that Angela has campaigned for:
- Preventing the closure of four libraries across Geelong by organising in the Save Geelong West Library campaign.
- Environmental issues such as opposing the Waste to Energy incinerator in Lara and floating gas terminal in Corio Bay.
- Opposing the reduction of council services and job losses in the CoGG 2023 budget.
- Fighting for housing justice as previous Co-Convener of Geelong Housing Action Group.
- Opposition to the genocide in Gaza.
