Dave Holmes

The Socialist Alliance recognises the legitimate national aspirations of the Kurdish people, divided by the colonial powers at the end of World War I between four countries (Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran).

The following report was presented to the Socialist Alliance Melbourne district meeting on December 6 and later to Geelong branch. While it speaks to the first draft of the resolution, I think the main points made remain relevant.

Socialist Alliance councillor Sue Bolton talked to Socialist Alliance Melbourne District member Dave Holmes in late December 2014 about her work as a socialist councillor in Moreland, an inner-middle municipality in Melbourne.

The following proposals were drafted by the transition working group (David White, Dave Holmes, Neville Spencer, Chris Williams and Peter Boyle) and were adopted by the SA NE on December 10.

The transition working committee on education committee has drafted a set of 10 points which it feels should form the basis for the National Executive discussion on socialist ideas for Socialist Alliance from next year.
